Ep 85: Sickness & The Hunger Scale
Ah, the joys of summer—a season filled with vacations, barbecues, and, unfortunately, the occasional summer cold. Just when you're all set to enjoy the sun, a sniffle or a wave of nausea can throw things off track.
Today, we're tackling how to navigate sickness while staying true to the hunger scale and your goals.
* Don’t Eat if You’re Not Hungry: When you're under the weather, your hunger cues can change. If you’re not feeling hungry, it’s okay to skip a meal. Focus on fluids instead.
* Handle Food Aversions Gracefully: With symptoms like nausea or a sore throat, you might only want bland foods. Don’t stress about sticking to your usual foods—it's perfectly fine to eat what you can tolerate.
* Watch for the Reentry: As you recover, it can be tempting to continue reaching for those comforting carbs. Being aware of this tendency will have you back on track in no time.
Illness is an unwelcome guest, but it doesn’t have to derail our progress.
