There's a secret sauce for weight loss, and it may not be what you think!
Here's the deal:
- Weight loss is actually pretty straightforward from a biological perspective - it's all about calories in vs calories out. The tricky part is managing our desire for food, which is influenced by brain chemicals, food composition (especially sugar and flour), cultural traditions, societal norms, and ingrained habits.
- The great news is that once we understand all the factors driving our desire to overeat, we have the power to change our default behaviors. We can problem-solve our way to healthier choices by creating hypotheses, conducting experiments, and evaluating the results. Rinse and repeat!
- The real key to success is being kind to ourselves throughout the process. When we approach slip-ups with curiosity and compassion instead of judgment and shame, we create space for growth. Self-kindness greases the wheels of progress and makes the journey so much more pleasant.
So it's time to ditch the guilt!
